Also he got into Daycare!!! (yes, it was harder than getting into college but he is in). We actually don't need care until September since MIL has decided to stay with us until Preston's cast is off in August but in order to ensure we get the full time spot come September, we had to accept the Tues/Thurs spot which started yesterday! Preston had his first day at daycare and he did fantastic. I he didn't even cry when Henry and I dropped him off. He seemed more interested in all the new toys at the daycare. :) I was so worried about having him starting daycare but I think it will do him some good. He seem to love being around other kids and so far I feel really good about the teachers taking care of him -granted it's only been one day. I am sure he will get sick too but I guess I have to come to terms that that's just part of natural process! And both his pediatrician and neonatolgist both thought it was fine for him to go to daycare.
Also yesterday, we had a follow up appointment with high risk clinic at Swedish. Since he was a preemie, they follow up with him until he is 3 years old to make sure he is on track.
The appointment went really well. Preston is doing great in terms of size he was 19 pounds 12 oz and 28 inches long. He was 50% for both weight and height in growth chart for 8 month adjusted and 25% for both weight and height in growth chart for 10 months actual. Not too shabby for being born at only 2 pounds and 4 oz.
Only area he is little behind is in his gross motor skills and the doctor really felt that it's related to him having virtually no fluid to move around while in utero. He really still hates tummy time so we are really working with him on that and we are also working on having him sit by himself.
We also got into early intervention program at the boyer clinic for physical therapy so the therapist comes to our house once a week to work with him. Doctor also checked Preston out and reassured me that we have nothing to worry about in term of CP at this point as he didn't see any signs of CP. Preston's gross motor skills will be delayed as he goes into a full body cast on May 22nd to August 20th so doctor told us to read and sing to him a lot to stimulate his brain.
Last year around this time (May 1st to be exact) is when I was admitted to the hospital on strict bedrest. My water had already been broken and I was bleeding and leaking constantly and no one could tell me the fate of my baby but only thing that kept me going was a small faith that he would be okay and I would be able to hold him someday. Exactly a year later, I have a healthy baby despite all the complications and hardship that we both went through. All I can say is I am thankful and grateful.
I leave you with some pictures from the past month...
